Personal Information Collection Statement (PICS)
This Personal Information Collection Statement ("PICS") sets out the purposes for which your Personal Data may be collected, used, processed, disclosed, transferred, and retained in connection with the Hail mobile application and related services. We are required by the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) to provide this PICS before collecting your data. Unless otherwise stated, defined terms are listed in Section 6.
1. Scope of Collection
To enable your use of the Hail platform and for customer service purposes, Hail Technologies Limited and its third-party service providers may collect the following Personal Data:
- Your mobile phone number, required to register and verify your account via one-time password (OTP)
- Personal details such as full name, gender, date of birth, email address, and mobile number when registering
- Location data throughout the ride journey, from pickup to drop-off, for service delivery and safety
- Trip and transaction history, including pick-up/drop-off time, locations, and fare breakdown
- Payment method details (e.g., credit/debit card or e-wallet) for fare processing
- Bank account or e-wallet details (if required for refunds or driver payouts)
- Information shared through customer support (via in-app chat, phone, or email)
- Any additional data required for verification or dispute resolution
If you provide us with Personal Data of any other individual (e.g., booking a ride for a friend), you must ensure you have obtained their consent in accordance with this PICS.
2. Use of Personal Data
Your Personal Data may be used for the following purposes:
- To register and manage your Hail user profile
- To process and complete ride bookings and payments
- To display your trip history and fare summaries
- To provide in-app navigation and real-time tracking
- To detect and prevent fraud, misuse, or violations of our terms
- To respond to support inquiries or disputes
- To conduct customer experience surveys and product research
- Subject to your consent, to send marketing messages or promotional offers related to Hail and our partners
- To comply with applicable legal or regulatory requirements
3. Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data
3.1 To Drivers
Your mobile number and pickup details may be shared with your assigned driver solely for the purpose of fulfilling your ride. No other personal information will be shared unless with your consent or as legally required.
3.2 To Third-Party Providers
We may transfer Personal Data to trusted third-party partners and vendors for:
- Cloud infrastructure, analytics, or IT services
- Payment gateway integration
- Customer service and dispute resolution
- Identity verification and security services
- Marketing and CRM tools (if you’ve opted in)
These providers may be located inside or outside Hong Kong. All are contractually obligated to keep your data confidential and secure.
3.3 Legal or Compliance
We may disclose your data in accordance with:
- Applicable laws and regulations
- Government or law enforcement requests
- Court orders or legal proceedings

5. Data Retention
We retain Personal Data only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes listed above. Trip records, payment information, and account activity logs may be retained for legal, compliance, and audit purposes.
6. Definitions
- “Hail” / “we” / “our” / “us”: Hail Technologies Limited and its affiliates, employees, and contractors.
- “Services”: The ride-hailing, location, customer support, and payment services provided by Hail.
- “Personal Data”: Any information relating to an individual from which such individual can be identified.
- “App”: The Hail mobile application available on iOS and Android devices.
- “PDPO”: The Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486, Laws of Hong Kong).
- “you” / “your”: The end user of the Hail app and services.
7. Language
This PICS is available in English and Chinese. In case of any discrepancy, the English version shall prevail.
